- [There has been a critical error on this website](https://getnorval.com/fixes/wordpress-critical-error): WordPress hit a PHP error it could not recover from, so it stopped the page. It is almost always a plugin, the theme or a PHP version change, not lost content. Find the file named in the error log or the recovery email, switch that plugin or theme off, and the site comes back.
- [Error establishing a database connection](https://getnorval.com/fixes/error-establishing-database-connection): WordPress cannot talk to the database where your content lives. The content is almost always still there. The usual reasons are wrong login details in wp-config.php after a move or password change, the database server being down or overloaded, or damaged tables.
- [500 Internal Server Error on WordPress](https://getnorval.com/fixes/wordpress-500-internal-server-error): A 500 error means the server failed while building the page and will not say why on screen. The reason is written in the server error log. On WordPress it is usually a broken .htaccess file, a plugin, too little memory, or wrong file permissions.
- [ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS on WordPress](https://getnorval.com/fixes/wordpress-too-many-redirects): Two rules are sending visitors back and forth, usually one saying "go to https" and another saying "go to http", or www and no-www fighting. The most common cause is Cloudflare set to Flexible SSL on a site that already forces HTTPS. Set it to Full (strict) and make both WordPress addresses match.

A forgotten password, a security plugin lockout, a moved login page and a lost two-factor device each have a safe way back. If your own user has gone, or you see admins you do not know, treat it as a hack.

If it is still broken, find the one plugin or theme that changed, roll it back to the version before, and report the problem to its author. Restore a full backup only as a last resort, and never on a shop without saving the new orders first.
- [WooCommerce checkout not working](https://getnorval.com/fixes/woocommerce-checkout-not-working): Most broken checkouts come from one of four things: a cache serving the checkout page, a script error from another plugin, a payment gateway set up wrong, or no shipping method for the address. Place a test order as a customer, read the browser console and the WooCommerce logs, and they point to which one.

Check the gateway limits, test mode, keys and webhook delivery in the gateway dashboard.
- [WordPress and WooCommerce emails not sending](https://getnorval.com/fixes/wordpress-emails-not-sending): By default WordPress hands email to the web server, which most mail providers now distrust. Messages are dropped or land in spam. Send through a real mail service with an SMTP plugin, use an address on your own domain as the sender, and add the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records the service gives you.
- [Elementor not loading](https://getnorval.com/fixes/elementor-not-loading): The editor needs more memory and more server requests than the rest of WordPress, so it is the first thing to fail. The usual causes are too little memory, a plugin conflict, a server firewall blocking editor requests, or old addresses left behind after a move. Styles missing on the live page are usually fixed by regenerating the CSS.
- [Website looks broken on mobile](https://getnorval.com/fixes/website-broken-on-mobile): Usually one element is wider than the screen, which pushes the whole page sideways, or the page lacks the viewport tag that tells phones to use their real width. Find the widest element with one line in the browser console, then give images, tables and embeds a flexible width.
- [WordPress translation not working](https://getnorval.com/fixes/wordpress-translation-not-working): There are two kinds of text on a WordPress site. Theme and plugin text is translated through language files, and your own content is translated with a multilingual plugin. Text stays in English when the language file is missing, when your custom translation was saved where an update overwrites it, or when the words are content, not interface text.
- [Arabic and right-to-left layout broken](https://getnorval.com/fixes/rtl-arabic-website-layout-broken): A right-to-left page needs three things: the page must declare dir="rtl", the CSS must use start and end instead of left and right, and the fonts must properly support the script. Most broken Arabic sites miss one of these, or put phone numbers and English words in without marking their direction.
- [Hreflang errors on a multilingual site](https://getnorval.com/fixes/hreflang-multilingual-seo-errors): Hreflang tags tell Google which language or country version of a page to show each searcher. Google ignores them when codes are wrong, when pages do not point back to each other, or when they point to pages that redirect or are not indexed. Every version must list every version, including itself.
- [Mixed content: HTTPS without the padlock](https://getnorval.com/fixes/mixed-content-not-secure): The page itself loads over https, but some images, scripts or styles on it still load over plain http. Browsers block or warn about them. Find them in the browser console, then replace the old http addresses in the database and theme, with a backup and a dry run first.
- [Shopify checkout or cart not working](https://getnorval.com/fixes/shopify-checkout-not-working): The checkout itself runs on Shopify, so problems usually come from the parts around it: theme code on the cart, an app that adds to the cart or checkout, the payment provider account, or shipping that does not cover the address. Test with a default theme and apps turned off to see which.
- [Wix site not showing on Google](https://getnorval.com/fixes/wix-site-not-showing-on-google): Either Google has not indexed it, or it is indexed but not ranking for what you searched. First make sure indexing is allowed in the Wix SEO settings, the site is on your own domain, and it is connected to Google Search Console with the sitemap submitted. Then check the page in URL Inspection.
