Accessibility
A website that some people cannot use is a broken website. This is what we do on our own, what we have checked, and what is not right yet.
What we aim for
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, on every page of this site.
What we do
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
- Headings, lists, tables and form labels are marked up properly, so a screen reader reads the page in order.
- Text meets the AA contrast level, in both the light and the dark theme.
- Pictures that carry meaning have a text description. Decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
- Buttons and links are large enough to tap on a phone.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, animations stop.
- Pages can be zoomed to 200% and used on a small phone without sideways scrolling.
- Forms say clearly what went wrong, in words and not only in colour.
What we have checked
On 30 September 2026 we ran an automated WCAG check (axe) on the main pages and went through them by keyboard. The automated check found three contrast problems, which we fixed the same day. An automated check finds only part of what matters, and this site has not had an independent audit or testing with disabled users, so we do not claim full conformance.
What is not right yet
- The rotating examples at the top of the home page change by themselves. They stop when reduced motion is on, but there is no pause button yet.
- Scan reports and older guides have been checked less thoroughly than the main pages.
