Reddit blocks every AI crawler we check, twice over. Its robots.txt tells all twelve to stay out, and the server refuses them as well: we asked for the homepage as ChatGPT and got a 403, then as Claude and got a 429, a second after the same server had answered us normally.

That is deliberate, and it is rational. Reddit sells access to its content to the companies training those models. Giving the same thing away to their crawlers would undercut the deal.

We publish it because almost every other site we find in this state never chose it. A plugin, a theme or a hosting default added the line, and the owner has no idea that when somebody asks an assistant who to hire in their town, their business cannot be named.

If you block AI crawlers on purpose, like Reddit, keep it. If you do not know whether you do, that is the whole point of checking.

What the scanner said

  • AI assistants are told not to read your site
    Your robots.txt tells ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot to stay out. The line doing it is "Disallow: /" in your robots.txt. People now ask an assistant who to use before they search, and an assistant can only name a business whose pages it is allowed to read. If this was a deliberate choice, keep it. Most of the time nobody chose it: a plugin, a theme or the host added the line.
  • Your server turns AI crawlers away
    We asked for your homepage as ChatGPT and Claude and the server refused, although it answered us normally a second earlier. That is a bot-protection rule at the host or CDN, not a setting inside your site, and it overrides anything robots.txt says. Cloudflare has a one-click switch for exactly this, often left on by whoever set the site up.
  • No meta description
    Google has nothing to show under your title, which costs clicks. Add a 140-160 character description.
  • No main heading (H1)
    Search engines use the H1 to understand the page. Add exactly one.
  • No structured data (schema)
    Without schema markup you are not eligible for rich results, and Google understands your business less well. Add Organization and Service schema at minimum.
  • No social preview tags (Open Graph)
    When shared on WhatsApp, LinkedIn or Facebook, your links show no image or title. Add Open Graph tags.
  • No XML sitemap
    We checked robots.txt and the usual sitemap addresses and found no valid XML sitemap. A sitemap helps Google find all your pages. Most SEO plugins add one.
  • Thin homepage content (1 words)
    Very little text for Google to rank. Thin pages struggle in search.
